The
viaduct of Moresnet, close to the German frontier, makes part
of the railway Antwerpen- Aachen, being the most intensive freight
train line of Belgium. Between 2002 and 2004, all 22 steel bridge
segments have been replaced.
Pictures
1-6: Weld works are done to remove the old bridge parts (1-2
nov 2003).
Picture 7: About half of the 22 bridge parts are replaced,
so you see the train passing partly over old (2 sections right)
and new (other sections left) bridge segments (2 aug 2003).
Pictures 8-13: The new bridge segments are assembled in
Montzen and posed under a mobile stamp construction. Such a whole
unit is transported 2 miles further on to Moresnet with double
track units (1 may 2004).
