In July 2005, I visited Gdansk (Poland) for one day. It's a town with a beautiful old centre, a port (but not easily accessible), and a rather small shipyard, which, undoubtedly, must have been much larger many years ago.

On the first three picture raws you see the town center as well as the Monument of the Fallen Shipyard Workers, remaining the strikes of 1970 and being the germ of Solidarnosc.

On the last two raws you see the port, the gardens of Oliwia, and finally the remarkable Third Millenium Jean Paul II Bridge, built between 1999 and 2001.

In juli 2005 bracht ik een ééndagsbezoek aan Gdansk (Polen). Een stad met een interessant oud centrum, een haven (hoewel moeilijk toegankelijk) en een relatief kleine scheepswerf die vroeger ongetwijfeld heel wat groter was.

Op de eerste drie rijen foto's zie je het stadscen-trum en ook het Monument van de Omgekomen Scheepswerfarbeiders, dat herinnert aan de stakingen in 1970, de kiem van Solidarnosc.

Op de twee laatste rijen zie je de haven, de tuinen van Oliwia, en tenslotte de opmerkelijke Derde Millenium Johannes Paulus II Brug, gebouwd tussen 1999 en 2001.
